The one question I kept getting all day was, how's the battery on the iPhone? Well I left it drain completely today to see how long it would last. When I got home I just left the phone play music and movies until it died.
One of the nice features found on the phone is a timer since your last full charge. It lists your usage time, all the time the screen is unlocked and in use, and the standby time which is listed in the manual as the amount of time the phone has been in standby mode (locked but turned on). Now I think the standby time is actually reporting the entire time since the last charge. If you look at the stats I have below, the standby time increases even though it was active and playing video the whole time.
As the phone's battery ran down I received an on screen warning at 20%, 15% and 5%. Read on for the stats at each interval.
20% Battery Left
Usage: 6 hours 3 mins
Standby: 12 hours 8 mins
15% Battery Left
Usage: 6 Hours 39 Mins
Standby: 12 Hours 44 mins
10% Battery Left
Usage: 6 Hours 51 Mins
Standby: 12 Hours 56 Mins
5% Battery Left
Usage: 7 Hours 3 Mins
Standby: 13 Hours 9 Mins
Roughly 5 minutes after I got the 5% warning the phone simply turned itself off. At the 5% warning I had stopped the video and just played music and browsed the web.
So if you add the numbers all up I had around 7 hours and 8 minutes of active use out of the iPhone today. Also the iPhone was in standby mode for 6 hours and 6 minutes. Keep in mind this was a high use day since it was played with by a few people throughout the day.
